School Care for Key Workers
As a country, we all need to do what we can to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. That is why the government has given clear guidance on self-isolation, household isolation and social distancing. The most recent scientific advice on how to further limit the spread of COVID-19 is clear. If children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading.
That is why the government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend.
Schools, and all childcare providers, are therefore being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children - children whose parents are critical to the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.
Many parents working in these sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. Every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. If as a key worker you have been granted permission to work from home you will not be able to access the provision.
As it states in the document “If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.” However where both parents/lone parent are critical key workers this may not be possible and you will need to access the school provision for child care. The provision is there to support you during working hours only. Outside of these time your child should remain at home.
Opening times are 9am to 3.30pm
As requested previously it is vital that we know which children will be accessing the care and therefore we ask that you notify us by email no later than 12pm on Friday 27th March for child care the week commencing 30/3/20. We will not consider any applications after this time as we need to sort staffing arrangements. We will need to know the specific days/ times which are required.
A list of key workers can be found below:
When requesting childcare as a key worker we require you to add the following information on the email.
1/ Please list you job role
2/ What job your partner does if you live together?
3/ How are you involved in the immediate response to the coronavirus outbreak?
4/ Name and contact details of employer for both parents.
Places will only be allocated to children where both parents are IDENTIFIED as critical key workers and there is proof of this nature.
As you can appreciate information is changing rapidly and we will update you as often as we can.
Thank you for your support and understanding during this exceptionally difficult time.
