Global Gang
At St Nicholas, we are proud to introduce the Global Gang : a passionate group of pupils dedicated to promoting anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion across our school. Their mission is to ensure that every child sees themselves represented in our curriculum and feels celebrated for who they are.
The aims of this group are to:
*work with school leaders to review policies, practices, and curriculum through an anti-racist lens, making recommendations that promote fairness, inclusion, and respect for all cultures.
*ensuring that all voices—especially those from under-represented groups—are heard and valued.
*lead campaigns and events that educate the school community about racism, its impact, and how to be actively anti-racist in daily life.
*work towards the accredited 'Global Neighbours Cymru' award with Christian Aid
This term, the Global Gang have been busy auditing resources in Progression Step 1 and 2 and identified that our toys weren’t as diverse as they could be. As a result, they have sourced and ordered dolls that reflect a range of skin tones, as well as skin-colour pencils and paints to support authentic representation in children’s artwork.
They are also working closely with our Values Committee to select Black and Global Majority musicians to be featured in our worship music. They have also started building a portfolio of artists from around the world that we study at St Nicholas. Through these initiatives and many more to come, the Global Gang are helping us make St Nicholas a place where every pupil feels seen, valued, and included.
